Bringing Balance
Spring equinox marks the moment when day and night come into balance.
For a brief time, light and dark share the sky equally before the days gradually begin to grow longer,
Nature doesn’t rush this shift. It happens quietly. A few more minutes of light each day. Small changes that slowly transform the season.
Balance is one of those words people nod at but rarely define — and even less often value.
In leadership and teams, balance often looks like action with reflection, accountability with care, and stability in change.
Balance isn’t static. It’s noticing and adjusting, making small shifts, mini recalibrations, a little more light where it’s needed.
The reality is that most teams lean in one direction for long stretches of time. There are goals to reach, problems to solve, deadlines to meet. Action becomes the focus.
And action matters.
But when the pace stays high for too long, reflection disappears. Conversations get shorter. People carry more than they should. Small misunderstandings linger because no one slows down long enough to notice them.
Over time, the imbalance shows up in subtle ways — tension in meetings, quiet frustration, or a sense that the team is working hard but not always moving together.
Sometimes what’s needed isn’t a major change — it’s small shifts.
A little more light.
And a steady movement forward.
As nature finds its balance, perhaps it’s a reminder to notice what small adjustments we can make to bring our teams into balance too.
